In this work, I use the image of a prominently outlined human skull encircled by radiating, halo-like lines to convey a sense of reverence and intensity. The skull is set against a vibrant yellow background. Yellow is traditionally associated with joy, light, and vitality, deliberately contrasting with the morbid connotations typically linked to skull imagery. Positioned beneath the central image is the word FIN, the Spanish and French term for “end,” further emphasizing the theme of closure. The ornate, vintage-style typography references aesthetic conventions from old Western cinema. Titled Every day is a Blessing, this work challenges traditional associations of the skull with death and finality, positioning it instead as a visual cue to contemplate mortality, deepen our appreciation for the present moment, and fully embrace our present life.
